Almost as soon as school ended, I was looking for housing. I had room mates, but we had no house. What made this even more difficult was the fact that Boston is 10 (count them, 10!) hours away from good old Virginia, which means looking at apartments is almost impossible. Luckily, one of my room mates is from Vermont and can go scope out the actual building. It was a good thing too because the first apartment we looked out turned out to be a complete sketch fest. After hunting, Chelsea found another one that was a little more pricey but definitely worth it . It's in Jamaica Plain, which is apparently where a lot of City Year corps members live. My uncle, who lived in Boston for a while, said it's where all of the "young people" live. hahah.
So, now that we have an apartment, the hunt for furniture has begun. Luckily, I lived in apartment at school, so I have almost everything except the actual furniture. I really only need a bed, dresser, and bedside table for my room. The common area needs a couch or two, but that can wait until I get to Boston with chelsea and Matt. Starting Saturday, I'll be scouring garage sales for the cheapest, yet somewhat decent bed set. I've never been a garage sale hunter, but it's going to happen. Wish me luck!
