Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope it's been filled with lots of candy, cards and pink! I've never been a big fan of the day, but today was great.  There was lots of stuff to do in first grade. Coloring sheets and card making took over the morning and card exchange and Ms. Russo's cupcakes came in the afternoon. We explained to them what it meant to be someone's valentine.  Ms. Moulton used the phrase "so and so is sweet on someone" to explain it, so for the rest of the day, they kept saying" Ms. Russo, I'm sweet on (someone in our class)"  It was really cute, but they didn't really know what to do after that. They didn't know what to do with someone who was their valentine.  hahahah.  During snack, we played old timey dance music and a few of the kids started dancing.  All of  a sudden, JG grabbed SD and started twirling her.  Then he dipped her back and it was the cutest thing. The other kids caught on and soon enough, the entire class was waltzing around.  I wish I could post the videos I took on here.

It was so fun to  be in first grade during Valentine's Day.  I think the holiday is way too hyped up, but these little ones were able to bring it back down and simplify the day.  I love them for it. I also love my parents for the beautiful flowers they sent me.  I may not have a Valentine, but I definitely have the best parents ever!

Flowers from my parents!
Sidenote: Chelsea is complaining that she has strep.  When she was on the phone, she had speakerphone on when talking to her parents and I heard her mom say "Chelsea, stop sounding so pathetic."  It made me laugh.
