This weekend, my mom ended up staying at home instead of driving Ben to Boy Scout camp (she was veryyy excited), so we had time to go shopping for a mattress/bed. Even if you aren't a big shopper, everyone loves mattress shopping. All you do is just lay around on comfortable beds. Usually, one side of the matress is the "plush" side and then the other is the "firm side." You aren't comfortable on the soft side, you just roll on over to the hard side, or vice versa. It can be awkward if the sales associates come over and talk to you as you are lying down and standing over you talking to you. After shopping around a little bit on Saturday, we went to Sears on Sunday where they were having a great sale on mattresses and bed frames. If you bought the mattress/box spring, you got a free bed frame, which ended up costing less than what just the mattress/box spring alone would have cost at the other stores. It was a great find and the bed is being delivered the week before I come to Boston!
Here are some tips for mattress shopping, especially for the newly graduated:
- Wear shorts/pants, not a dress. It makes it hard to roll around on the bed/get comfortable in a skirt.
- Lie on the bed for an extended period of time, not just a minute or two, so you can see how it really feels.
- Lie like you sleep, so if you sleep on your stomach, lie on your stomach.
- Don't disregard a mattress just because it's hard and you want a soft one. I ended up buying a firmer mattress even though I thought I would want a softer one.
- Make friends with the sales associate because they can tell you when the best sale is going to be/hook you up.
I can't wait to spend my first night on my new bed. I've started looking for bedding, even though I have a comforter and sheets already. Don't ask....I just like shopping.
Hey! Thanx for sharing with us............ i was searching for this so long!!!!!!!
