apple picking!

Today was field trip day for first grade!  As you can imagine, all of the kids were hyped up and going crazy, which made the morning a little hectic, but who can blame them?  I remember being so excited about field trips I couldn't control myself and that's exactly how they were.  Growing up, especially not in elementary school, I never realized how stressful field trips are for the chaperons.  Despite being exhausted and spending all day counting children, it was a blast!
We drove for an hour on the bus and by the time we got there, the kids were determined that we were in a forest because there were "so many" trees around. Actually, we were just in the suburbs, but for these inner city rascals, it was the forest.  The day was filled with little things like that, which made it even cuter, since they were so out of their element.
I had three students, two boys and a girl in my group, which was fun. I got to spend all day with them just hanging out, not having to correct their handwriting or helping them do their work. We went on a hayride, went apple picking, saw farm animals, and even got a (small) pumpkin to take home. The kids loved it!
When we got on the bus to go home, half of them fell asleep and the rest just watched out the window. I think some of the chaperons may have fallen asleep too. Needless to say, I am exhausted.  I didn't know how I would make it through course coaching, but somehow I did.  Luckily, tomorrow we're at HQ because it's FRIDAY!  Thank goodness!
