drama queen to the extreme

Well today started off pretty uneventful and was actually somewhat boring at times, and then Chelsea decided to spice things up and add a little drama to our Friday. I would say I'm surprised, but not really.
This morning, we did PT in Copley, and maybe I'm biased, but my team was definitely one of the better ones. We've been practicing a ton, which is awesome. I really want to earn our boots on the first try.  We have the first chance Wednesday and so we're practicing like crazy.  After PT, we went back to HQ for team time.  I love team time because it's just the ten of us plus Erica and sometimes Danielle. Today, Danielle was pulling some people to finish stuff, so she would come, interrupt the conversation and try and make us do something we'd already done, and then leave. It was really annoying, but she would have to leave, so it wasn't like she was around that much.  We talked about this week and our classes. Everyone went around and said one thing we were excited about/enjoyed and one thing we were nervous about.  I realized I'm really excited to watch the first graders learn.  I feel like they are such sponges and literally know nothing right now, but by the end of the year, will be able to read and do basic math. It's going to be so cool.  I'm nervous, though, about being able to calm them down when they are upset or angry because they get so upset over the littlest things. I think that will come with learning more about each student, but right now, it's hard because I don't know them that well. After team time, we had some lectures and lunch. I went to this really good burrito place in Copley with Angela and Sam. It wasn't as good as Chipotle, but definitely a good compromise.  The afternoon was more trainings, but when I got back from lunch, the drama set in.
I saw Chelsea sitting in the lobby of HQ with a towel on her head and crying with the head of training, Ravi. I went over to ask what was wrong and she just cried and didn't really answer.  Besides the towel on her head, she honestly looked fine, so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I later found out she went ot the emergency room. I would have been worried if it were anyone else, but Chelsea is a drama queen and somewhat of an hypochondriac, so I didn't worry too much. It's a good thing because all she had was a migraine. I know migraines can be bad and lots of times the only thing you can do for them is take some medicine and spend the afternoon in bed, but I've never heard of anyone needing to go to the emergency room for them.  Sure enough, when Chelsea got to the ER, the doctor just gave her some medicine and told her to see a neurologist on the off chance it was something bigger so he wouldn't be held accountable.
All along, Matt had seen what was going on and of course was freaking out.  I feel like he needs to learn how to go with the flow from my first graders.  Anyways, he went to the hospital after he left HQ. I didn't really think there was any need for me to go to the hospital just to wait in the waiting room. When I left HQ, I talked to Matt who said it would be best if I went home, got Chelsea's car, and came and picked them up. It was a fair trade off because it meant I got to drive and didn't have to take an hour T ride there.  When I got to the hospital, I found Matt who drove around with me looking for a parking spot. We called Chelsea's mom to update her (Matt had talked to her earlier) and when we were talking to her, it was so obvious that she thought Chelsea was being a drama queen too.  Then, Chelsea came outside and we left. I thought Chelsea would want it quiet and not really want to talk, but she was fine. She called her mom, talked to us and acted like basically nothing was wrong. I was annoyed, to say the least. The only good thing about this whole ordeal is that she bought us dinner (take-out Chinese...my fave) to thank us.
It's funny because when I was at the office trying to figure out if I should go to the hospital, I was talking to Erica (my TL) to see  if she had heard anything on the off-chance. She was asking about my room mates and the only way I could think to correctly sum it up is by saying it's an experience living with them. If I learn anything this year, it will be patience.  Chelsea is okay most of the time, but then she does stuff like this that is just ridiculous. There was no need to have an ambulance pick her up from HQ and take her to the ER for a migraine. She is also really rude to Matt. After all that he did for her yesterday (coming and waiting at the hospital, talking to her mom, etc), she still complains about him.  Oh well.  It's an experience.
