Yesterday was Matt's birthday, so a while ago, I bought tickets for last night's Red Sox game against the Orioles. The tickets were only $15, so you can bet that we were in the last row in the outfield. The seats actually weren't that bad, but there were definitely better ones. I came straight from school and got there right in time for the national anthem. Matt (my room mate) and our friends Gabe and Rachel were already there.
It was looking to be a rough game when the Orioles scored three runs in the first, but then the Red Sox hit the ground running (literally). The final score was 18-9 Red Sox, so you can imagine that it was an exciting game. Offensively, we saw everything. Jacoby Ellsbury hit an in-the-park home run and Jackson hit a grand slam not long after. Almost every innning someone scored, which is great. Even the Orioles had a good game offensively. Granted, John (s)Lackey was pitching so no one should be surprised, but it's still exciting. I do have to say I kind of laughed when Lackey got booed when he was pulled out in the fifth. He's definitely the weakest link in the lineup. After the fifth, we moved seats so we were only a few rows back in the outfield. We were there for the seventh inning stretch and to sing Sweet Caroline, which is always my favorite.
It was also a beautiful night out last night. I had a sweatshirt and my CY vest on and I was nice and warm. It was cool out, but not cold like some nights have been, so we were really lucky. It was such a fun night. Being there with friends on a Monday when you know it's way past your bed time just adds to all the excitement. Plus, now I'm three for three at Fenway. They've never lost when I've come. I'm thinking they should give me season/playoff tickets.....

"That moment, when you first lay eyes on that field — The Monster, the triangle, the scoreboard, the light tower Big Mac bashed, the left-field grass where Ted (Williams) once roamed — it all defines to me why baseball is such a magical game." - ESPN Analyst Jayson Stark
