Well, today was a mess. Ms. Moulton called me at six thirty saying she was sick and wouldn't be coming in. Not that bad, right? Well they couldn't find a sub, so guess who was in charge. This girl. They had specialists who normally come into the classroom come in and help out, but none of them knew where we were going next or what the overall day looked like. It was a little hectic and crazy. We had a few meltdowns, but overall it went a lot more smooth than I thought. They were pretty well behaved and went with the flow, so that's all I could really ask for. I leave before the end of the day, so I don't know how dismissal went. Hopefully they took all their stuff....
When Ms. Moulton called this morning, I honestly thought the worst was happening. All I could picture was total chaos and kids running amok. Then I heard the news from JMU and realized my day was not that bad. This semester JMU has lost six students and faculty to sudden deaths. Last night, a student was hit and killed by a bus. She was only a freshman. Last week, Nick Keatts passed away in his sleep and another student died in a skate boarding accident. We lost our Vice Provost Dr. John Noftsinger last week to a heart attack. It's hard to see all the good in these sad times, but I have never been so proud to say I went to JMU. Last night, students held a candlelight vigil starting a midnight at the scene of the bus accident. Hundreds of people came out to the convocation center for a memorial service to remember Nick Keatts and Dr. Rose sent one of the most heartwarming and encouraging letters that have led some people to call him Dumbledore. I don't ever wish this upon anyone, but it has confirmed my belief that I went to the best university and graduated with the best people in the world. I am proud to say I am JMUstrong.

P.S. I would really appreciate it if my room mate didn't feel the need to one up me with everything she said. I'm pretty sure we had equally bad days. It's not always a competition.
