downtown Harrisonburg

Yesterday, my parents and Ben stopped in Harrisonburg for an early dinner on their way home from skiing in West Virginia. I've realized more and more how much I a) love Harrisonburg and b) love spending time with my family. It was literally a great weekend ending in this little treat.

We were going to go to Union Station because Anna had been there with friends and said it was perfect. When we got there, brunch had just ended and it was closed for the rest of the day ( I forget that in small towns, things aren't always open 24 hours a day). We decided to head to Clementine's for sandwiches because no one was famished, but it was getting close to dinner time.

I had a turkey + avacado + bacon + chipotle mayo sandwich which was FABULOUS! It was a little big and messy, but it tasted delicious. My dad had the same thing and he loved it as well. Ben had some barbecue burger thing which he was raving about and my mom said her salad was tasteful also.

Today in class, we watched a documentary on how bad Wal-Mart corporation is. They come in and subsidize a neighborhood and basically force all of the local, family-owned stores out of business. It made me vow that I will try my hardest to support local restaurants and shops instead of big corporations like Wal-Mart. My time at Clementine's was the perfect end to a great weekend!
