Today was such a nice and relaxing day off. Since we're going on the retreat tomorrow, I don't really consider it the weekend, but it was definitely a much needed day off. My friend slash G-little (my little's little in APO) came to visit. She's from New Hampshire, which I think is only an hour and a half away, so she came for the afternoon.
We went to the North End and got canoles from Mike's Pastries and then ended up walking all around Boston. We went from the North End down to the Aquarium to some huge park and then back to my apartment. I didn't really have anywhere in particular I wanted to go and Laura just wanted to get a canole, so we just wandered around for a few hours, sitting occasionally and catching up. It was so nice to see a familiar face after an exciting, but long week.
After she left, I just hung out at the apartment and packed/did laundry etc for tomorrow. Chelsea was around (she doesn't seem to leave unless it's with one of us) so I was with her, too. She's not that bad when it's just the two of us, but the minute Matt walks in, it completely changes. Matt asked if we wanted to watch Friday Night Lights and Chelsea automatically responds "I HATE that show. I am not watching it." Okay, missy, calm down. No need to freak out. Plus, she knows that both Matt and I like it, so be considerate.
Anyways, I am leave tomorrow at 6:40 for our retreat. I'm excited about the next three days. I can't wait to get to know the people on my team and get excited for what's to come.
Oh and on a side note, a guy doing City Year who's from Boston asked me if I lived on a farm because I'm Virginia....it was only a matter of time before the "southern questions" started. I just laughed and smiled. :)
