The one. The only. Big Papi.
Well hello Dustin Pedroia!!
Jacoby Ellsbury looking good!!
Mr. Jed Lowrie everyone!
I'm sitting in my bed still in my pajamas watching Fever Pitch. I figure, if I can't go out into the city, I'm going to figure out how to feel like I'm there. I really can't complain though because I've enjoyed having an excuse to do absolutely nothing. Plus, yesterday was nonstop, so I needed a day to recover.
Yesterday started out early. I signed up for a volunteer opportunity in Government Center. BPS was having a "Back to School Jamboree" to get kids and their families excited about starting school. They had games and lots of entertainment as well as resources for the parents. I was helping hand out back packs filled with school supplies to the kids which was a lot of fun. I was at the middle school and high school table, so you could tell that a lot of the kids were "too cool" to show how excited they were, but most of them admitted they were looking forward to the first day.
After the jamboree, I rushed home to shower, change and head out for the Red Sox game. I thought it was going to be a rush because I was meeting Michelle at 4:30 and the jamboree was over at 3, but we got out early and then thanks to a rain delay I didn't end up heading out until almost five. I met Michelle, her dad, and her sister Sam at Uno's by Fenway where we sat and waited out the rain delay. Around 6:30, we headed out to the park dressed in ponchos and ready to sacrifice ourselves to the rain. It was definitely worth it. Since it had rained, a lot of people ended up not showing up, which meant we got seats right on the third baseline. It was awesome!! It drizzled on and off throughout the whole game and we even had a rain delay at one point, but it was totally worth it. Big Papi hit a two run home run which is always fun to see. He makes it look so easy. Equally as exciting was Salty's two out RBI to tack on another run. I think I'm slowly moving out of my Jason Varitek obsession into a love for Salty. He's going to be a great catcher and an asset to the Sox. By the end of the seventh, though, all of us were wet and ready to go home. I caught a cab home and called it a night shortly afterwards.
Today has been spent watching movies, baking desserts and hanging out in my pajamas and I wouldn't have had it any other way. It's been so nice to have an excuse to just hang out, especially since yesterday was so non stop. The wind was wild and it rained almost all day, but nothing like what they were predicting. I'm glad that it seems like the storm was relatively mild compared to what they were predicting. Despite major flooding at home, nothing else was too out of the ordinary. I'm looking forward to this week of work and finally getting to visit NHCS.
Fever Pitch just ended and they're showing the replays from each game of the 2004 post season where the Red Sox made the greatest comeback in sports history (I may be a little biased). It's been seven years and the Sox have won since then, but I still get goosebumps and giddy. #redsoxnation
Quote of the day: Lindsay (Drew Berrymore) is running across the field at Fenway to stop Ben from selling his season tickets. She reaches him just in time to meet the security guards. As she's being arrested, Ben asks the question that so many of us have wondered.
Ben- "You gotta tell me. The field...spongy?"
Lindsay- "Ben, focus."
Rainy Sunday thanks to Irene
