shambly mess

Today started off a little shambly, but ended up being pretty solid.  I am quickly learning what puts a smile on my face.

As I said, this morning was somewhat of a hot mess. I realized I bought the wrong cream cheese yesterday, so I had some vegetable cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel.  If you just made a confused face, that's basically how it tasted. Confused.  Needless to say, I was not very happy, especially because it's Thursday, which means donut day at my house.  Then, we got on the T and missed our stop to get off, so we got off at the next stop, turned around and took the train one stop back.  Luckily, we made it in time, but it made for a chaotic morning.

Today was a lot of information again, but it was pretty fun.  In the morning,we learned about the history of Americorps and the branding of City Year. I enjoyed the brand management because it's basically my major all in one.  We learned the different fonts associated with City Year, as well as how to use the logo when we're making flyers, posters, banners, etc.   In the afternoon, we did this activity as a team where we had a bunch of supplies and had to build the sturdiest, prettiest object without talking.  It was so funny to try and tell people something without actually being able to speak.  Our object ended up looking like a bucket with some indian feathers on it, but it was a ton of fun doing and I feel like it was a great team building experience.

Tomorrow we get our new teams and I couldn't be more excited.  I don't know how they'll tell us, but I'm sure there's a big reveal as to what team we're on and who else is with us.  I turned in my preference sheet and now it's just up to them.  It's weird to think that they're placing us on teams right now.  The TLs and PMs were staying afterwards to figure out teams.  Everyone is on pins and needles waiting, so I'm sure tomorrow morning is going to be slow.

When I got home, Chelsea and I watched "Bridal Wars" which is kind of stupid, but enjoyable all in the same.   Chelsea takes some patience because it's often a competition with her, but she's good for times when you just need someone to hang out with. I'm sure the time will come when I just want to come home and be alone after a long day, but right now, I'm in need of company and she's not that bad.

Overall, today was a lot of fun and I'm going to miss my Ubuntu team.  Here's to hoping at least one of them is on my team tomorrow!

Fact of the day:  Every 26 seconds, a student drops out of high school.
