You've probably guessed, but mouse traps were put into action and have been doing their job! I'm not sure if I'm excited about the fact that the little bugger (Chelsea had another, less appropriate name for him, but we'll keep that quiet)who's been eating my food is being punished or upset at the fact that the trap just comes out of nowhere and kills the poor little guy. I'm going with the former, seeing as half of my food is gone. No remorse.
Chelsea went home this weekend and came back with traps that we set up Sunday night. I don't think I really thought about what I would find. Monday morning, at 5:30, I trudged into the kitchen to get my Frosted Flakes to find the mouse trap doing it's job. I quickly got Chelsea (who feels the need to wake up at 4:45 basically so she can be the first one up every morning and then complain about how tired she is) and we disposed of the little bugger before we could realize what had happened. This morning, I entered the kitchen cautiously, but the traps were there mouse-less. I thought our mouse problems were gone until tonight when I came home to find Stuart Little #2 a goner. I hope it was just the two little guys that moved in to our apartment, but I have a feeling they aren't the only uninvited guests here. We've got three traps around our kitchen, so hopefully the little guys will get the hint and move out.
In other news, Course Coaching with my middle schoolers is going good. We have a meet and greet with their parents tomorrow before Upper School Open House, so hopefully I get to meet their parents. I think they're beginning to like me. Today we also started morning reading before school. I meet with four 7th graders and read out loud with them. They have a book they are reading (Schooled) and are assigned a certain number of pages a day. I read out loud with them, jumping from person to person. If they don't know where we are, they get a demerit. I was nervous about giving demerits, especially since these kids don't know me, but I was giving them out left and right. Once I gave out the first one, there was no stopping me! Plus, I have to scare them a little bit so they'll listen to me. Overall, morning reading was a lot better than I thought it was going to be and everyone seems to enjoy the book we're reading.
Today was overall just great. I have become more confident in disciplining the first graders, as well as my 7th graders. Everything is falling into place quite nicely, if I do say so myself. If anyone has any mouse prevention/trapping tips, we would GREATLY appreciate them!
