room mate reunion

This weekend, my college room mates all came to visit and what a weekend it was!  Anna and Karen came Saturday morning and Caitlin arrived Saturday night. I showed them around Boston and took them to do some of the touristy stuff, like Harvard Square, that I hadn't gotten around to do yet.  It was so much fun.  We went out on Saturday night with Chelsea and met up with one of Anna's friends who was also in Boston for the weekend. Sunday, we went to Copley and then spent the afternoon in the Public Gardens.  It was beautiful outside and it was nice to just be outside. Sunday night, we got all dressed up and went to the North End for Italian food. We ate dinner and then went to Mike's Pastries for canoles!  YUM! Sunday morning we headed out for breakfast at McKenna's (the best breakfast diner in Boston) and then stopped by my school. I felt bad because we went all the way to school just to have it be closed, but oh well. They seemed to enjoy it. Breakfast was delicious.  We parted ways on the T afterwards and they caught their flights home.
I think this weekend confirmed how lucky I was in college to have such great college room mates. I even teared up a bit after they left. All four of us are completely different, but we all are so good for each other, it works.  If anyone knows me, it's Anna and to have her here just felt right. I miss having that room mate experience and that best friend right down the hall.
One other exciting thing about this weekend was that Anna brought the bridesmaid dress for us all to try on.  She had been waiting to bring it to Boston so I could be the first one to try it on. It's been hard for me to be so far away from them as the wedding planning is going on because I know I am and will miss a lot of bridesmaids activities.  Being able to to be the first one to try the dress on was really special and it made it so exciting. I will try and post a picture sometime this week once I catch up on everything.
Last, because this weekend was so fun, I woke up on Sunday and had lost my voice. After going to a CVS minute clinic and checking to make sure it wasn't strep or anything serious, I decided I would go to school today and try to be as much help as I could without talking. When Holly (Ms. Moulton....I'm trying to get better about calling her by her first name) was telling the class that I had lost my voice, a few of them actually thought it was misplaced somewhere.  Then the whole class got all riled up and started looking under the carpet and around the room as a joke. It was so cute. My voice is definitely getting better and hopefully by the end of tomorrow, I'll be back to normal.

thank you Anna, Caitlin and Karen for making this weekend perfect and reminding me what good room mates are.
