Anyways, Wednesday we had a college fair at NHCS hosted by City Year. It was an all day event where we had brochures from over 30 schools, games to teach the little kids about college, and activities to help the middle schoolers figure out more about what they want in their college experience. We definitely have at least five or six future Dukes c/o 2027 thanks to the college fair. I didn't even encourage it! It just happened naturally. Oh well, I'm not complaining!
In the afternoon, during Course Coaching, we had representatives from four different schools come and do a panel for any middle schoolers who wanted to stay. Our Course Coaching students were required to stay, but we even had a few who stayed by choice. Well, choice and the fact that you got entered into a raffle to win college gear. The panel went really well and both JA and MO from my Course Coaching group asked questions! I was such a proud Corps Member!
The staff raved about the college fair, saying it was the best event City Year has ever put on. It was nice to hear after such a tumultuous spring!
