I won't make you suffer through all of the drama, but I will tell you about JA. She's in our Urban Legends enrichment, which is nice to have her in a non-academic setting (unlike morning reading and Course Coaching). Today, she was supposed to work with a partner trying to find Urban Legends online. Her partner wasn't there so I told her she could work by herself. She replied "Can I work with you?" I nearly fainted. Without making a big deal, I just replied yes and we spent the 40 minutes online looking for a good Urban Legend.
But wait, the fun isn't over. We headed to Course Coaching and she was in a great mood. They didn't have a lot of homework because they had the ANET, which is a standardized test. JA finished her homework a half an hour early and was just hanging around. I give out merits occasionally when they have a great day and today was one of those days. JA was drawing on the board and I wasn't really paying attention. When I looked over, she had written "Five merits for Ms. Russo."
It's been a rocky rocky road for JA and I, but it's days like these that make me love her. She's such an incredible, strong willed, and intelligent person that I am so lucky to have the honor of serving this year.
