wheelchair basketball

This weekend was pretty laid back.  The next couple of weekends are going to be busy, so it was probably good, even though at times I was bored.  Anyways, the most exciting thing about this weekend was going to see Ethan's wheelchair basketball game.

For those of you (probably most of you) who have never watched a wheelchair basketball game, it's definitely something to add to your bucket list.  If you thought regular basketball was intense, that's nothing compared to wheelchair basketball.  People are ramming into each other left and right and every so often, someone gets completely turned over and falls onto the ground.  When that happens, they pull themselves back up like it's no big deal.  It would take me a million years to do that, mind you. They have special basketball chairs, but everything else is the same.  They have the same rules as college basketball and the basket is  still the same height. You can even get called for travelling if you don't dribble for every two pushes you do in your chair.

It was so freaking cool.  Erica, Megan, Angela and I cheered like girls and embarrassed Ethan to no end, but it was still a ton of fun. Major props to Ethan.  I'm pretty sure it takes more athleticism to play wheelchair basketball than any other sport.  Plus, you get way beat up.
