weekend series part 1: The Hunger Games

I figured it might be easier for you (and for me!) to break up the weekend into a few blog posts, so here's the first one of the series!!

Thursday night, eight of the ten on my team went to see the midnight showing of the Hunger Games.  I'm not a big midnight showing type of person, but I was so excited for this movie, it was high on my priority list. We all met at Pat and Nick's house at ten thirty and left for the theater shortly after.

We got to the theater in plenty of time and stocked up on overly priced popcorn, candy and soda.  So much for the skinny and pretty team. Hahaha.  We were waiting for an hour or so before the movie started, so we started pairing up people on the team with characters from the book.  The three that were the most correct in my eyes were Pat as Haymitch, Danielle as Effie, and Erica as Katniss (especially when she slams Peeta up against the wall after his interview).  I was Rue, which was completely fine with me because I absolutely love her.

Once the movie started, though, we were all dead silent, as was everyone else in the theater. We laughed, we cried, it was by far one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I don't usually like movies that are based on books, but this was an exception.  It followed the book extremely well and was a well-made film.  It definitely lived up to all of the hype.

If you haven't read the Hunger Games series, I DEFINITELY recommend it.  The plot sounds weird, but it's an incredible trilogy that appeals to any type of reader. You should read the book, though, before seeing the movie.

Anyone who has read the books or seen the movie can probably guess this quote, but if you didn't, here it is in true Hunger Games form

"May the odds be ever in your favor." - The Hunger Games
